Perspective

After watching people suffer and die for over 30 years, you learn that life is very fragile, precious, and quite frankly, a crapshoot. We literally never know what will happen. Every day is a blessing and we are only guaranteed today. We could live until we are 100 , an argument my husband constantly makes to me because I am a spender and he is a saver. But, on the other hand, our lives could be over in an instant with no warning. I have watched people 20-over 100 years of age die. No matter how long we have someone we love in our lives, it is never long enough. But one thing I have learned without question is that because we never know when we will leave this world, we need to live our lives to the fullest! I say every day, Life is short. Even when it’s not, it seems like it’s short. So my philosophy, thanks to my very unique perspective, is to go for it. Whatever “it” is. For me, it is spending time with my family, traveling, showering my kids with gifts (yes, that includes spending money), and going to the beach. The beach is truly my happy place, it means family and joy! This week, I have been extraordinarily blessed to have realized a dream come true, my husband and I bought a vacation home at the beach. A dream that would never have come true but for my endless preaching to my husband that we won’t live forever. God bless my husband! He has been forced to to listen to my “live your life now” and “you can’t take it with you” philosophy for decades. Despite his practicality and responsible outlook, he has come to understand and embrace that the most important things in life are time and family, and a beach home gives us opportunities for time and memories with our family.

I am so grateful to God, my amazing husband and Aunt Mary Ann (who is our partner in crime) and my 30 years of life lessons that have brought me to realize this dream. Whatever time I have left in this world, I will be sure to make memories and create a legacy of love and family for my children and one day for their children. I am blessed!!!
